    Just wondering

Let's say you're going to go bass fishing, and you want to have the best fishing day possible. Where would you go? To narrow the choices, where would you go in the spring, the summer , and the fall. Looking for numbers of fish over 12 inches. Lakes have to be in Kansas and about 200 acres or larger. Thanks, Brad V.

    Re: Just wondering (BRADVAN)

Brad, your question is easy to answer if you only let me offer my Missouri opinios Sorry, no help on the KS side...

But if the choice was open to MO then

    Spring (Apr-May): Mozingo
    Summer (Jun): Truman
    Fall (Nov): Table Rock

    Re: Just wondering (BRADVAN)

I would suggest Spring: Banner Creek or Hillsdale. Early Summer: Perry. Late Summer - Early Fall: Melvern. Smaller Lakes that are good most anytime are: Pony Creek, Lyon County, Yates Center and Lone Star. Larry Brumley

It's unfortunate that the best lakes in kansas are less then 200 acres...

Never knew Melvern housed a good bass population. Maybe I'll drive up there...

Melvern has a very good Smallmouth population a decent Largemouth population and some good Spotted bass as well. It's not hard to catch all three over 15" the same day. Larry

Thanks guys. Just thinking of Youth State Qualifiers. You want the youth to catch fish, but you also want them to experience something other than just "bank beating" on a State Fishing lake.
Would love to find lakes where they could have the opportunity to fish structure. Before all the bass in Fagan lake died we used to go over there and fish the creek channel in the grass flats, then the big drop with a Carolina rig, and finally the stump flat with either a jig or a rig. You could actually fish structure, but those days are gone.
    Just thinking. Thanks, Brad V.

the only true STRUCTURE lake I know of in Kansas has to be Wilson......or Cedar Bluff.
