Long time Coming....but might have some answers now!!

I went to see a specialist this week to see about my Left knee. He took xrays and all & said the Joint itself looks fine but there was definitely fluid build up on it & needed to be Aspirated. Said after we do that & see what it was maybe an MRI......well.......it was not good....Fluid came out Yellow in color which was an indication of High Uric Acid Crystalline in my system. Some Docs will Diagnose Gout but this had NO typical gout symptoms yet has the Yellowish fluid around the joints which can be contributed to several thing.

Apparently My kidneys are not getting rid of the Uric acids that come naturally in some foods. Drinking high amounts of Alcohol & dark Sodas may contribute to it....but I am not a Heavy drinker......nor do I drink Dark sodas all the time......Coke here & there for lunch/weekend thing but not like what typically can be diagnosed as a contributor.

All said and done I will possibly need a few more tests to confirm if I have Hyperuricemia.........Not life threatening if caught & treated early....but could be later on in life.....Being my mom has kidney issues there is a possibility that this may be handed down to me....and will have to start controlling my Diet/intake of certain foods/drinks & such. There still may be other factors to consider but Nothing will be set in stone till Next week when I discuss my options with Dr. and get on a Medication & control for it.

All in short....I may have to give up Beer, and most alcohol eventually but must be watched & controlled in portions. Dark Alcohols like Bourbon,Whiskey & Rye type grain alcohols could be hard for my Kidneys to process as well. But thing that have artificial colorings & High Fructose Corn syrup & Caramel Coloring are Worse I guess..............Dark Muscle type meats like Deer, Ribeyes, Sirloin & such are going to hardest to give up since they carry higher levels of Uric Acid.......yet there are some other things I can do in conjunction to help lower those levels in order for me to Enjoy a Good Steak every once in a while......the old adage has been have Red meat no more than Once a week........but I may be lucky to have it once/twice a month now

I know this was long but just felt like getting it off my chest a bit. I have talked to Gina & my dad about it......but I felt like just coming on here & typing something........

    Nite guys!!

At least now maybe you can get to felling better. Tuff luck on the red meat though.
