    LaCygne

Made a trip up to Lacygne last week. Didn't get many bites, but just as well. I would rather catch one big one than 10 little ones. Anyway, fished the warm water discharge for an hour, seen a couple guys catching a few white bass or small wipers, but didn't see any LGmouths caught. Fished most of the morning and noonish and only caught three little ones. Finally when I was about to decide to load the boat, caught a #3, had a #5 on in some brush, struggled with it for about 5 minutes when it got tangled on a limb about 2 ft under water, finally swam it's way out, jumped in the air and spit my jig right back in the d@M^ boat! Very next cast, after a little temper tantrum, I hooked one on a jig in about 5 ft of water, it felt like another #5, but then it did a tail walk on the water!! This bass had to have been very close to #10. Needless to say it spit my jig out too. I was shaking for 10 minutes. Fished for anoher hour and never got another bite, but what an exciting day it turned out to be. I've heard they're in there...now I know they are.

10lb catfish are all over ks. In fact I caught a 15lb flathead on a jig the last time I was at that lake so why are you telling us about you losing one.

I know all about catching channel on jigs. Ft. Scott has some really nice bass with whiskers that like to eat tubes & jigs both.
I've been fishing with Tad before. I have to say, he not only talks the talk...he walks the walk too. He introduced me to a little technique called " Kill the Buzz ". Just toss a buzzbait out and let it sit on bottom while you pretend to pick a backlash out. The big bass can't resist a big chunk of flashy metal sitting on bottom.
It just makes me wonder how many budweiser cans have been eaten by big bass. I guess Heddon did come out with a lure like that though.

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

Hey sometimes you just have to experiment and go with what works. A 5lber is a 5lber in my book no matter what technique you use.

Went back to lacynge today and fished the same spots. the water is about 2 ft higher now, and I saw one about #3 follow my lure, but never got bit. Fished from about 11 am until 3pm without a bite.

I fished hard too. Tried a watermelon tube, lizard, brushhog, & spinnerbait and even tried the ol' reliable Fitzwater jig tipped with a Netbait paca craw.
