    Boat trailer wheels question

I have chrome steel wheels but they have started rusting. I thought about getting alum wheels but they tarnish and you have to shine them all the time. How do you keep chrome steel wheels from rusting?

One thing you might try. Clean and polish them very good removing every last bit of rust you can visibly see. Next after you have got them the shiniest they have ever been you might try a product that comes in a spray can.It is a clear finish and will seal them from the outside elements . I'm not really sure if it's a lacquer or something else but that approach will give you some results. I did this to my trailer wheels once and it seemed to help quite a bit. The secret I think is in the thoroughness of the wheel prep. I would reccommend two very uniformly applied coats. I don't remember where you buy this product but if you look around you will find it. Hope this helps.
