    Fishing the Missouri river

Crazy question- Has anyone ever heard of fishing the Missouri river in Kansas city for bass. everytime i drive over it i wonder if anyone has tried. There are wingdams galore riprap and small creeks. Was talking to a guy who catfishes it and throughs a bait net for bait and he says he has caught bass and walleye in the river in downtown kansas city. I think I am going to try fishing it this spring or summer when the water is some what managable

I don't know why you couldn't we fish the neosho river and spring river
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

I see several boats in the river up this way, but mostly tin boats, not sure what they're fishing for. The current up this way is pretty swift at times.

I've always wondered that too. When I visit my daughter in Atchison there is always a bunch of boat trailers on the parking lot next to the ramp but I don't have a clue what they're fishing for.

    Dan

About 15 years ago i used to work in Edwardsville, there was the creek channel that dumped in to the river. If the river was at normal pool the creek was pretty much cut off from the river but if the river would come up a few feet the creek would raise. When the river would go back down we would fish the pools with in the creek channel for Largemouth. We mostly used texas rigged worms and caught a lot of 10 - 14 inch bass, a few keepers and a butt load of bull head catfish.

There is a major creek that dumps into the river right under the 435 bridge, we used to fish that point every spring on good friday, it seemed to be when the white bass were running, we would catch hundereds of them in and afternoon, non had any real size to them

That's not a dumb idea at all. I would be first on the list to join you in that endeavor.

I would have to agree with that. Kind of funny you bring that up because last week I was doing alot research on the river as well.

Log jams/piles in slack water are also obvious targets. Just be very careful for underwater obstructions.
