Could have been prevented if the dude would have just dropped the knife.

Re: Man deis after being tased (dragracenova)

That situation, an ARMED subject in a room with a victim/hostage, calls for lethal force coverage first, less than lethal secondary. I'm glad the officer did not get rushed by the suspect as his taser probes would have had a small spread and there would have been a very high risk of the taser being ineffective and then the suspect wielding the knife has reached the officer. If the officer had lethal coverage via a cover officer with them to prevent such occurance, then taser in hand may be an appropriate tool. I'm glad the officer is OK and based on what I read, which is media, of course, he'll be cleared.

As for the ignorant father of the female, what a complete idiot. 1. Way to be a father and look out for the best interest of your daughter...by approving of her being with an assaultive battering pile of stuff. 2. Police batons can't be swung effectively in enclosed rooms, especially with other people nearby, unless you don't care if your daughter takes one upside the head on the backswing. They are also close proximity tools and not intended for use against persons ARMED with weapons.
    3. Let's see, fill an enclosed room with pepper spray where the victim still is, and with no guarantee the stuff will even phase the out of control ARMED guy...I can almost guarantee it will affect any officer that tries to go in the room to get the victim out or take the suspect into custody, provided he drops the knife.
    4. Girlfriend and her father should be thanking the officer for even attempting to use a taser vs. what would have been the standard course of action for victim and officer safety in that situation. Sounds cold but the guy ended up where his actions took him.
And my bet is excited delerium brought on by alcohol and probably drugs, killed him, not a taser.

Sorry 'bout the rant but ignorant whiners have no useful place in society, except to create media stories.

Now, I'm flying to Kansas to go to Milford Sunday through Wednsday to check it out for Nationals...what do I need to know to catch fish in early November?
