Honors to a fallen brother II

Didn't get a chance to follow up on this event...... Almost every person, military, retired, and civilian in my building walked to the route the funeral convoy followed. Several hunderd of us were lined on both sides of the road. I'm told it was like that all along the route on Ft Leavenworth.

MPs lead the convoy, followed by the family and hearse, then about 200+ Patriot Guard riders, 2 by 2 followed. I've seen this on TV before but 1st time in person. Every one with an American flag on his/her bike. To say it's impressive doesn't really do them justice. I was told by a friend that the Phelps wackos were outside the gate, and, as is the usual practise, the Patriot Guard stopped to block them from sight of the family, revving their engines to drown out the protest. Wish I had seen that.

There was a huge number of cars in the convoy, with lots of younger folks in them. We stood there until the last car and MP escort passed, and then walked back to the office. It was a very emotional time for all of us, and there were not a lot of dry eyes.

Prayers for the family and friends.
