    250xb

Was running WOT for about 5 minutes and motor just died! Cranked on it for about 20 seconds and it fired back up and ran back to the boat dock, everthing was fine. Wondering what caused that?

Hard to diagnose a problem that's "disappeared"... however, it's bound to be tied to either "spark or fuel".

Might want to check the anti-siphon valve, perhaps replace fuel line and hose (use ONLY OEM line/hose), and if the pulse pump has not been rebuilt in the last couple of years, look into it as well.

Also a very good idea to sample the fuel in the water separator/filter (pour it into a glass jar). See if there's any water present.

Electrical/Spark: Faulty ignition switch or lanyard switch (shorting out ignition)... and the remaining item that comes to mind- disconnect the "cannon plug" connection for your keyswitch harness under the hood. Make sure the pins are clean and tight- you can slightly spread the ends of the male pins with a pocket knife, and reconnect it. Sometimes, these will cause "irratic operation and engine shutdown issues".

If it just died on the spot .. I would say intermintin spark issue - short of some sort as Don said. I Just had the water in the fuel issue with my XB a few weeks ago. With water it seems to never start up and run again... or runs very bad. ...of course I had about a pint of water in my tank! Needless to say once mine shut down... it was dead

Found a broken return fuel line off, (the real small hose), you think that could have been the problem?
