    TPS question

I have a 200XS that intermettently sets TPS faults. Most times on start up but sometimes after started. Every now and then it goes into gaurdian mode. Could this be a hotfoot adjustment or possably sensor going down? If I advance the hotfoot slightly it seems better... Thanks Jeff S.

    Re: TPS question (FSHRMN1010)

    Jeff:

You shouldn't be advancing the throttle, especially prior to turning on the key (it will cause the PCM/ECM to "mislearn" the TPS idle setting).

The same would go for a inproperly adjusted hotfoot or throttle cable.

Proper setup requires a DDT or CDS. Specific ranges for both idle and WOT settings are available when connected to the CDS.

A Faulty TPS can cause this... best way to check it is to have a "sweep test" done on the TPS (this can also be done as a "graph display" when connected to the Computer Diagnostic System.

    Re: TPS question (EuropeanAM)

Turns out the TPS is faulty. Cleared codes and did the sweep test and fails at base idle. Replacing TPS with tank test and other checks. Will update after the weekend... Thanks Don for pointing me in the right direction. Jeff S.
