I did the lamante flooring (Pergo) about 4 years ago in my living room. Has stood up well and very easy to install. The stuff is tough to cut and you will ruin a saw blade during the project but all in all not bad stuff.

Iv'e got hard wood and it is a pain to maintain.....Looks good, but a pain. With 2 little ones, I think it would be easier to maintain then carpet though....

    Re: flooring (dukhntr)

I guess it depends on what you mean by hardwood... like the old school basketball flooring (real wood) or the new click together type stuff. The click together stuff is what we are doing and from my understanding it is more durable. Many different kinds but I believe that is what Greg is refering too also.

The Pergo is a floating floor. Make sure you keep 1/4 of an inch off the wall. Also make sure where ever you plan on using one of the seam strips to transition from carpet to the wood leave 1/2 an inch to screw in the metal plate it snaps into. I did not do this and had to take a saw and cut off the excess without cutting the subfloor Also the transition trim is a bit tricky. Make sure you have it where you want it because you cannot remove it without destroying it! Good Luck it is not a bad job at all. It is hard on your knees as you are up and down all the time! Greg
