Guess this may only affect Steve

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

News Contact: Kimberly Qualls, (785) 296-3881 or kqualls@ksdot.org

Construction Set to Begin for New K-7 & US-24/40 Interchange in Wyandotte
    County

Weather permitting, on Monday, March 10, construction will begin for the
    new
K-7 and US-24/40 interchange in Wyandotte County. The K-7 and US-24/40
interchange project will include construction of new northbound and
southbound K-7 bridges, all new ramps at the K-7 and US-24/40 interchange,
and all new roadway pavement on K-7 and US-24/40.

The existing cloverleaf interchange will be replaced with a new partial
cloverleaf or folded diamond interchange and the addition of auxiliary lanes
on K-7 and US-24/40. The lane addition will provide traffic with
acceleration and deceleration lanes for the new interchange on- and
off-ramps. When completed, the new interchange will provide for a safer and
more efficient driving experience for the traveling public.

During construction, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each
direction throughout the duration of the project. All existing ramps at the
interchange of K-7 and US-24/40 will be closed during construction of the
new ramps. Marked detours will be provided using US-24/40, K-7, I-70, and
    I-435 during the ramp closures.

Updated daily lane and ramp closure information for this interchange project
can be viewed online at: http://www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp. Drivers
should expect minor delays during the project and are encouraged to use
    alternate routes, if possible.

APAC Kansas, Inc. is the primary contractor for this project with a total
contract cost of $35,739,978. The scheduled completion date for the entire
interchange project is early winter 2008.

The Kansas Department f Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey
the warning signs, and "Give 'Em a Brake!" when approaching and driving
through work zones. For questions or additional information on this
interchange project, please contact Kimberly Qualls, Northeast Kansas Public
Affairs Manager, at (785) 296-3881, or Jim Wetterberg, Bonner Springs
    Construction Engineer, at (785) 721-2754.

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

I've been going to the meetings that were discussing this project. It;s going to be a mess for about 1 year

I've also recently volunteered to be a member of the Tonganoxie Planning commisssion. Supposed to be offically appointed either the end of march or the first part of april.
