    Chili Cook off today

Today at work we are having a Chili Cook off - right now there are 6 chili's entered -

I work with a lot of hi-brow Johnson County folks here, my question is should i tell them that my chili is made out of venison? or do i just let them eat it?

Let you know how things go !

You don't tell them until afterward. That's how I do it.

Let it go. I hate when people say they can't stand venison. F$#$ing idiots don't know the difference until you tell them. Once they know it all of a sudden tastes gamey.

Dont tell em...................I had a similar thing at a previous employer........I waited till the Votes were in and people thought mine was "Unique" in taste & though it was Pretty good.......I did not win or nothing but I did get votes for the most Unique.........................After all was said & done I was asked "What I put in the Chili"...............It was Ground Buffalo meat.

You should have seen the looks on peeps faces

WTF? Is this national Chili day? They're doing the same thing here. I opted out since I made venison over the weekend. Took Willy to the Chinese Buffet

Well i went a head and put out a sign to let them know it was venison.
I noticed some avoided it like the plague, others tried a little bit. (probably the first time in their lifes they had deer meat - i think they ate one spoonful so they could brag to their friend that they ate deer)

Others came by and filled up their bowls. All in all it was pretty funny to watch....

Should know the winner in a few hours

When somebody tells me it's venison, that makes it even better.

An avid chili contest person told me once that his 2 secret ingredients were vinegar and peanut butter. I can't picture how that would enhance the taste, but he swears by it.

Re: Chili Cook off today (Jiggernaut)

Red Wine Vinegar......or a Malt Vinegar.......non of them have to be strong but it does at a touch of Flavor to it.

Not sure about the PB thing

I have done good ol' Nebraska Chili before...........Smoked & Pulled pork added to the meat......mix of Ground Beef and Ground Pork too..........Great Norther Beans that have Soaked for 2 days.....and added some Secret stuff

If we ever get together remind me to make some & I'll put a pot together

Re: Chili Cook off today (sclark)

Well, i went down the to kitchen after lunch to help clean up, eveyones crock pot had about 1 inch of chili left in the bottom of it, except mine - there was only about an inch of chili missing from my crock pot.

Needless to say - i didn't win, I only managed to get 5 votes, but the good news is i think only 5 people tried my chili, so everyone that ate it voted for it.

Next Year they get opposum chili with no warning - thanks for the idea Melvin!
