Being new to tournament fishing other than clubs is the KBCF series a measurement (paper) tournament series?

I would like to fish the qualifier this year. How do you go about doing so as a non-boater? Do you have to link with someone? Also, what memberships, dues, etc. are there? Thanks for the info.!

No you don't have to link up with a boater, but I'm sure one would like to. If you do the boater is guaranteed to take his boat. You also have to be a BASS and KBCF member. I think you will also have to join a BASS affiliated club. Hope this helps. If you do decide to go I will probably ba able to find someone for you to go with to share expenses.

As a non-boater it is best to be linked up with a Boater. This would make you a guarenteed non boater and also the boater is guarenteed in the event.

You don't have to link up, but if we get too many nonboaters, then you might not get in, and of course if we get too many boaters it would not be an issue.

    Kerry,
I know you are affiliated with the TBFKS. I would also like to fish that qualifier. What would I need to do (membership, etc) to be eligible to fish that? Thanks for the info!

I see that there is 4 kids TX but there is no championship ?
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

Yes unfortunately it has been going that way in the last few years. Seems more like the OK and MO federation doesn't it?

What does that say about our lakes in KS? I would think there would be a lot more events scheduled on our lakes if there were any lake keepers in them, esp. considering today's travel expenses.

Re: The 2008 KBCF Tournament Schedule (Jiggernaut)

    Melvin and Matt,

You yourselves know about what Ma BASS is doing to the youth program and there are going to be some other changes coming from what I understand.
Brad Burns is a pretty upset dude about everything, is planning on having/giving Ma BASS a piece of Kansas when he goes to the Classic for the Youth meetings. He also told me yesterday, that his youth comittee is going to firm up the youth stuff within the next couple of weeks, so more detail is forthcoming...but this is Brad we are talking about, so keep that in mind.
The dates of the 4 youth events are firm, (what Brad told me, and the event at Yates Center is firm, cause ya'lls club is sponsoring...and thats all good.)
4 events across the state ain't bad, for the short time frame he has to work with to qualify the kids and there is/will be more details ...From Brad forthcoming.

Re: The 2008 KBCF Tournament Schedule (fshrmndeluxe)

To those of ya'll questioning Kansas Federation fishing in other locations...

Yes, some of it has to do with the fisheries in Kansas, but more to do with the total pressure on the assorted fisheries. When you take locals just playing, wednesday nite tourneys, local clubs, etc., the few lakes that are good recieve a lot of pressure. Plus add into the fact the size of the lakes.
I say these things in reference to the "Team Series Tournament Trail" that I run. The Qualifiers, Mr. Bass, 6-man tourneys are nominated and voted on by the reps of your clubs...not decided on by me or my committee.
Back to the "Team Series"...this circuit is the next step for the tournament angler that is ready to move above the club level, but maybe not ready or dosen't want to compete in the Heartland's, Central Pro Am's, or the Super Bass Tournaments.
I did, in this being my 6th year as the Tourney Director, try "staying in Kansas" and where I picked up 3 to 5 teams cause it stayed close, I lost 4 - 7 teams cause of the size of lake, lack of being able to run several patterns - as is easier to do a on a larger body of water, and the ability to be able to fish a body of water and not fish on top of another team or near. As well as a fishery being able to produce for 3 or more days consistantly!!!
Understand this, and Johnny S. will testify to this, this is a very good group of fisherman. Very good! Some of them could move up in competeviness, but don't want to. They like were and what we are.
We have a neculeous of @ 20 teams that have fished with/against each other for years. We are very competive and yet will stand in the parking lot of the motel on Saturday evening and share beer (or pop in my case!), tackle, lies and truths.
With what we are changing abot the "Team Series" this year, to be able to go to a "Truman", fish a 2 day tourney (we are going to pay the consistancy...not the lucky flash in the pan...right place at the right time teams!!!) and if we have 20 team show up...1st place @ $1500.00...40 teams pay first place of @ $3000.00...I want to go to a lake were its going to take 20 pounds a day...not 8 pounds or 10 pounds...even though we all know that that poop happens and even a "Truman" and weather can give you a 10 pound winning day!

(More info later...gtg to bank right now!)
