    Since we're talkin Whiskey!

Awhile back I posted that a friend of mine gave me a bottle of Bookers. Someone stated that it was about $50.00 a bottle. Well I did some research on the bottle I have and found something kinda interesting if you are a Whiskey fan. Jim Beam makes 4 different types of small batch whiskey. Bookers, Knob Creek, Basil Haydens, and Baker's all of which are their "Small Batch" whiskies. However the bottle that was given to me is not Bakers Small Batch it is Bakers Single Barrel which is altogether the same, but different! It aint $50.00 a bottle Nor is it available to the public in most instances. Not even close! My friend must really like me alot!! He is my former Command Sergeant Major, and is the Gentlemen who convinced me to stick around the Army for another 3 years. He is the one who got me my "cushy desk job" (Not cushy at all, I work my ass off for the Field Artillery Proponency Office) anyway he gave me this bottle for nothing. Just knew I was a whiskey drinker and gave it to me. He got it for free from his father-in-law who makes the Barrels for Jim Beam! Pretty cool story I thought I would share. Oh by the way he gave me a bottle of Bakers, and Basil Haydens also!

126 proof, but remakably smooth. I still prefer Single malt scotch whiskey though. I just think Scotch goes better with cigars which is another finer thing in life I like to enjoy

Thats pretty Sweet I've had Knob Creek B4 but I didnt know any of that.....I thought they were all different till you posted that.

I wouldnt mind paying $50 for a bottle if I knew it was good......I might take my sweet time with it too being it cost me more

That's cool Brad. That's why I have always really liked Knob Creek. It belongs to that family of whiskies and is one of the best bourbons I've ever tasted for the money. I think it tastes pretty close to the regular Bookers but is quite a bit cheaper. Never had the Bookers you're talking about, though. Sounds Yummy.

Jason, I doubt that the Bookers I have tastes any different than the small batch. I dont have that sophisticated of a pallet when it it comes to Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Now on the other hand I can tell the difference between Johnny Walker Black(Blended Scotch Whiskey, which I also enjoy) and Glenlivet, Glennfiddich, Lafroig Single malt Scotch. Johnny Walker also makes a Green, and Blue. Both of which are Single Malt . The Blue Version is big $$$ even at the PX here at Ft. Sill it costs $199 a bottle. Little rich for my blood. I do think it would make an wonderful retirement gift!

It's all good. Especially when it can be enjoyed amongst good friends.

That's the key. I think that part of the message Ryan was trying to send recently was that no matter what lure you're throwin, rod your throwin it on, boat you're running, truck you're towing with or in this case bottle you drink from... We're more alike than we are different. Good friends that share the same passions.
