It will only have two days of this cold, plus all of the wind, so I would assume it would still be open. Why not just run it on the ohio river? It will not be frozen.

The water temperature was in the mid 40's last weekend, so I'm sure the lake won't have much ice on it. Painter Creek ramp faces south, so it will be the least likely to have snow or ice on it. The thing you have to watch is the road leading to the ramp. A lot of the ramps like Newton Stewart and Osborne have really steep hills just before you get to the ramp. Make sure you aren't going very fast when you top those hills, or you might get a surprise.

I'm north of Patoka and the ponds don't have any ice on them at all here. Might throw a bag of sand in the truck in case somebody else gets the ramp wet.

Just don't go early in the morning. The sun is supposed to be out, and it will melt any ice on the ramp, whether it's below freezing or not...or that's usually the case when I go duck hunting in below freezing temps like I'll be doing tomorrow morning on Barkley. Ramps absorb the sun's radiant heat very well.

So how was the early morning boat ride at Patoka? I live 30 miles from the lake, and it was a balmy 10 degrees here this morning.

I stayed inside and thought about you while I was drinking my second cup of coffee.

Glad you sold it. Really would have sucked to freeze for nothing.

Hey Kyle now you know what we always went through deer hunting down there. Had many days when we had no steering till the motor ran long enough to thaw it out. Course that was in the old days. Good luck with the search if I see any I'll let ya know.
