and all I could manage was this little guy on a rogue![]()
Water temp was 51.7 in the morning and 56 when I left. Nice warm day but it seemed like the dead sea out there today. Could also be I'm not that good at catching fish![]()

Tie on a 3/4oz football and crawl it around. You'll catch a good on eventually.

thanx for the tips guys. This was my first time down there, normally stick with closer lakes to me nolin, rough, green, barren. Tired of trying to fish those lakes when they are cold, muddy and flooded. Water looked great at Dale Hallow. Definatly going to start fishing there more often. Rather go there than 3 hrs to KY lake and have to deal with the surf that always seems to show up with me.Sort of a spur of the moment fishing trip didnt even look at a map before going just gps when I got there
Really like to catch me some big smallies, Green teases me every now and then with some good smallies but not often enough

3/4 OZ Cumberland craw football jig w/dark brown twin trailer. Hold on, it'll feel like a train hit your rod this time of year. Then the fun begins. Go slow, main lake points. 30-40' with deeper water nearby.
Have fun.![]()

I've been thinking about doing that myself. I fish Nolin primarily and I haven't been out in a couple of weeks. I will probably go Saturday or Sunday, I just hope the lake isn't a friggin mess.

steep learning curve on the hollow, fish the big jig on main lake points and points in the creeks. dont spend to much time in one spot about 20 minutes is usually plenty, if they are there wont take long you will know it.![]()
You can also try float and fly, I have been catching some good ones the last week or so.

Do u actually catch the fish in 30 to 40 feet of water or does the boat need to be setting in fourty feet of water.
I've been sittin on a bluff and caught fish out over 80' or so with the fly. I've caught them as deep as 45-50 on the bottom with a jig an was sitting in 60'. Dale Hollow will really help you get the feel of a jig and I think helps your deep/ledge fishing everywhere.

if it is real sunny, yes they will be positioned in that depth range. If it is overcast you usually can move up in the 20ft range and catch them. Also depends on time of day.
The fish I was catching last three weeks were from 20-25 ft mostly all on jigs w/ a few on big hammer swimbaits.
I didn't fish 30-40 depth much at all which may explain why I didnt catch muchUsed shakey head alot but not much time that deep. Next time I go I'll drag that jig around. Never used a float and fly, read articles and seen on fishing shows maybe give it a try.
I was down there last sunday the 11th...We wound up with 29 bass total, 24 smallies and 5 largeheads....18 of the smalles were over 18", 2 of the largies were 5lbs and one of the largies was 4+....Had 2 maybe 3 overs if we had really tried to stretch em....Of course we were cheating and using live bait
They aint got hands, set the hook
