Holiday World - never been before, but going in a couple of weeks - any tips?

I won two free tickets to Holiday World. I have never been, nor has the wife. We're going for a full day in a couple of weeks, probably a Tues. or Wed., and wondering if any of the regulars have any advice or tips.

Is it better to get there first thing in the morning and ride the roller-coasters and then hit the water park? Or the other way around?

Can you go back out to the car later in the day to get your towels and swimming clothes?

Are soft drinks and sunscreen really free?

Last time I went that is what you had to do. The water park does not open for a couple hours after the main park does. At least that is the way it used to be.
Free pops too. Can't beat that place in my book. Have fun

Drinks are free - where they get you is the expensive food lol. If I were you, I'd get there when they open and ride the roller coasters, then hit the water park when it starts to get hot. Its a pretty nice little amusement park.

So you're saying that maybe having a picnic lunch around noon at the car would be a good idea when we're getting our swimming clothes?

Yeah that sounds like a good plan... The water park is great.

It has been a couple years since being there, I agree the food is spendy but not anymore than any other park. Grab the coasters in the morning and then again mid afternoon while everyone is in the water park.... Enjoy it I feel its one of the best FAMILY parks around.

Yep, I'd pack some sandwiches or something.

They have lockers you can rent down in the water park and they have some picnic tables outside the main entrance so you and your bride can have a sit-down lunch if you like. Go to the Voyage coaster first if you like coasters

You'll have a ball! The wife and myself are also going in a few weeks, July 10th, thats a Sunday if you just want to come along with us. Cole and his newlywed will also be there. I've been going since my Grandpa started taking us grandkids there before school started to reward us for our hard work on the farm. We also usually take it to the car to eat lunch, but we do love their pizza. The roller coasters are hard to beat, and the water park is great. You're really gonna love Indiana now! You all could have a fun filled long weekend if you wanted to experience the region. Lots of things to see and do, and Patoka isn't far away. Good scenic drive from Jasper to the lake.

We just got back after spending 2 days there last week. We took the kids and camped at Lake Rudolph which is next door to HW. The water park opens one hour after the rest of the park. Holiday World is in the Central Time zone so they are 1 hour behind Louisville time. Keep that in mind. They have opened a new restaurant in the Thanksgiving area of the park called the Plymouth Rock Cafe. It is air conditioned and the food is great. The adult meal is $8.99 and you get your choice of fried chicken, turkey leg, chicken/dumplings, and grilled chicken with 2 sides and roll or cornbread muffin. The drinks are free also.

The Voyage roller coaster will rattle you around. Be prepared.

Enjoy!! Also, the park is extremely clean. I think you will like it.

I appreciate the invite! We figured we might enjoy it more with a smaller crowd on a Tuesday. Haven't played hookie yet this year either

I like to save those days for fishing, but the wife would much rather me do as you are doing and spend it with her.
