Growing up in Evansville with Thunder on the Ohio we had real boat racing.....I remember when we first move to Louisville the guys I worked with told me about a steamboat race......I took off work a few hours in excitement to go see a race went down there and when the takeoff happened it hit me.....two steamboats 'racing'......it was veeeerrrrrryyyyyyy sssllllloooooowwwww.....I guess I should have had beer or something

The real boat racing is this weekend at Madison, IN - the annual Madison Regatta. I didn't realize the history that Madison had with hydroplane racing...the town actually owns a hydroplane! There's even a movie called "Madison" that features the drama surrounding the 1971 APBA Gold Cup. It was a low budget film, and some of the special effects are cheesy, but it's pretty neat seeing how they filmed it on the Ohio River and areas in and around Madison. It's really a good movie about a dying town, and how it came together to host such a major event despite the odds against them.

did the cinci boat get lost or something it looked like it left the belle during the trip up.lol,Isnt it diesel powered too,Or did all the extra contests and crap make the differance,I have no idea i only flipped over at the beginning of it until i got bored

Having that UK mascot on board brought some team spirit along with it.....did well in the first half, but then gave up for the second half...
and clown the fans as they pile out b-ball and football games when i go.Was even better watching them walk out of the clucket bucket
And im thinking they shut that boat off,they let the belle cruise by and it was damn noticeable
