    Yet another C'land delay

The C.O.E. issued another news release recently, the new time frame for dam repair completion is early 2014, hopefully in time for the Spring rains I personally think they're going to milk this cow as long as she has milk! They could have built a NEW dam already and prolly cheaper

It surely seems as if they've been working on that for a long time.

You can't get too mad about it, what they are doing is like restoring an old used boat...you don't really know how bad it is until you start into it.

I also highly doubt a new dam would have been cheaper...you couldn't even build a new dam like that one thanks to all of the environmental restrictions, etc. - those costs alone are astronomical.

Local paper reported at the very beginning, before the lake was dropped, the the Corp had a huge decision to make: repair the existing dam or build a new one 1/2 mile away. At that time they said the final cost would be virtually the same. They never expected it to take this long.............

I know I'll be glad when it's done for sure. I'm not nearly as consistent when it comes to catching Smallmouth as I was before.

They should have built new. The Corp has been repairing the dam since it was practically new. You watch in 30yrs the Corp will have to start a new series of repairs... Dan

Yup, crazy at all the funds being thrown at this bandaid. I really like this lake. Dale proved pretty good for me, since LC was flooded most of the spring - but it's another 1+ hours to DH.

Sunday's paper said they are 55% complete, without any unforeseen delays they expect to be done by Dec. 2013 give or take 2 months.......Spring rains should bring it back up quickly.
