Coast Guard were the ones to shut the lakes down last time. Was wondering if anyone has a contact down there to see if it is or is not going to happen. Don't want to drive 3.5 hours and spend 200.00 in gas if I can go fish.

You might check with the local Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla.
At the very least, the Commander probably could give you some info.
If you get in touch with him, let me know what he says.

Per the Coast Guard in Paducah " There are no plans to shut the lakes down at this time". last years was due to high current flow and large amounts of debris.

If the gates are shut, I can't imagine there will be too much current. Supposed to have a discharge of around 6,000 cfs this weekend which isn't much at all.
I think last year it was a complete opposite with nearly all the gates open when the lake was shut down.
