05 Rude 200ho DI , blown again, What now?

Gents I just finished paying this rig off back in October, and my son and I fished our last day of our season on Black Friday, which is when the trouble started.
After a long idle out to open water, I got on it to get back to the ramp, and then the "RATTLE" started, with a significant loss of power.
My problem is this; when all is said and done my extended warrenty expires in April, and this repair will be the second time that the engine has had to be torn down, cylinders resleeved, pistons and rings replaced, and fuel injectors replaced.
This engine has maybe between 175-190 hrs. on it.
The cost of repair may be more than the warranty company is willing to pay.
So should I repair the engine and hope for the best, or buy a new Outboard using the money I get as a down payment.
Based upon the history, memory from the computer, my mechanic has told me that I have'nt worked the engine hard at all.
Can anybody give me any kind of direction on what to do?
Any and all input is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks, Dave

What was the original diagnosic of the PH failure? Was one found ? What hull was the motor on? Fault codes etc. I am surprise that a reman PH was not authorized instead of paying for all the parts and labor if it was under warranty. To me, you have lost all confidence in this motor and you may be better off doing just what you are weighing your options. Wait and see what the warranty company offers. If they offer you a good deal, right now BRP is offering some great promotions on new E-tec with extended factory warranty. Buying one would save you considerable rigging costs over another manufacturer.

This motor is on an 05 Stratos 294px, and when I lost two cylinders before the outboard was out of Factory warranty, and was repaired under the extended warranty. I got a 7 yr warranty option on the Evinrude when I brought my rig, 3 yrs. factory, and 4 yrs with an after market broker. I am the original owner and it has never had a computer code or problem other than a lift pump failure and the other catastrophic failure with two adjoining cylinders, this failure is also on the same side as before. I guess I could repalr it and run it till it dies, and constantly worry about impending doom, or buy a new one and hope that my wife dosen't file for divorce. I holler once I have more info, Thanks Dave

I had to weigh the same decision nearly two years ago, without any help from warranty and went with a new E-Tec with 5 years factory warranty. I have not regretted the decisiopn I made. The 200HO E-Tec is a great motor.
Either way you go I would change the fuel hoses if you havn't already and add a fuel water seporator and then have the fuel flow checked by a factory trained rep.
