Take a good look at Deka's they have a monster starting battery with 1050CC and 185 min reserve that is not even a AGM and they make those as well.

I've had very good luck with the optimas. I got a couple of the big blue tops from amazon.com for about $200 each.

    Re: Deep Cycle Batteries (TR21Bassin)

Just like vehicles, it's funny to see what everyone chooses. In fact, I have had the worst luck with Interstate batteries, while a good friend (and Charlie) like them the best.

Without a doubt, my favorite battery is the Maintenance Free AC Delco Voyager. The last two times that I purchased them was after 5 seasons! I'm currently in the 4th year of this set running a 101 Minn Kota.

We sell the heck out of the Interstates but the Deka AGM is one very hard battery to beat, of course you can have three sets of interstates to one set of AGM, one thing the AGM Deka has two full years of warranty.

One side note, if you run the big screes electronics such as a HDS 8 and 10 with a side scan you will need a 31 AGM size battery for your cranking needs, that is all we put on new ordered boats these days with all the big screens and not had one problem.

    Re: Deep Cycle Batteries (kstephens)

Where I work we make the outer cases for most marine batteries. There is only one battery I'd buy and those are DEKA's. You can pick up the Group 31's in Indy for $115.

If you have a bigger budget go with the their AGM.

Cabela's AGM's are great too. (Those are made by Deka )

    Re: Deep Cycle Batteries (GRR884)

I asked this same question last spring and ended up buying 2 Group 31 Superlex Deep Cycles from Kentucky Battery Outlet on Blue Lick Road in Louisville. I paid about 160.00 for the pair.I have had Optimas and they were decent but I have never been to get 4or 5 years out of any set of batteries. I run a Maxxum Pro 80 and re charge as soon as I get home and these have been flawless.Plus they are made down in Somerset Ky.

American battery on Woodland in Louisville. Just bought me a new cranking battery. Its around 1100CCA and 200min reserve. 90 bucks. I figure if I replace it every 3 years stiil much cheaper than the expensive ones.
