This is a good motor, dependable, but not a Hot Rod. This was the crossflow design that was simple to work on as well as economical. This type engine was introduced as the first V-6 to hit the market in 1976. It does not like to be run in the excessively high R.P.M. range for long periods of time, but, when not abused, will make you a good source of power for your boat. These motors were designed for the recreational crowd, and were around for many years. They were eventually phased out to make room for the more efficient "Loop Charged" engines found today.![]()
thank you.I noticed that the bottom carb of the 3 has a different # (on an attached metal tag) than the top two, which have matching numbers.Aftermarket carb?? designed that way?? there is hardly any info on this motor out there it seems...
No aftermarket carbs that I know of. You should see 1 3/8 stamped on the front of each carb. This is the size of the venturi. Commonly referred to as the "Big Bore" carb. The reason for very little info on these motors is because they are becoming extinct. You don't see too many of them anymore, but they are still a pretty good motors.
if i ever needed parts and couldnt find much for my motor/model,is there another model# i should try/consider when referencing?

I think these motors came out in 1984, they had a spruced up cowling and a polished lower unit. You can use the 1984 150HP parts.![]()
