Odd Ohio River fish

Last month I was fun fishing below the Markland and caught a solid black Gar. thinking nothing of it I unhooked it and let it go. When I got home I wanted to see what kind it was so I researched on the internet. Come to find out its just a coloring defect. BUT I saw where people are paying big $$$ for these color oddities.

Today fun fishin at Tanners I caught a 3' Musky. I got all the fight out of him and just as I reached down to unhook him, he made one last surge and took my BRAND NEW crankbait with him. Bass fishin was tough only 2 keepers all day

I've never seen a black gar, a cool catch for sure! Muskies seem to be more and more prevelant in the Markland Pool. I've caught a half dozen of them in the last few years, up to fifteen pounds! Half of them were on the main river up by New Richmond, and the other ones in the headwaters of Laughrey and Arnolds. Bad news is, we snagged an Asian Carp a couple of weeks ago, down by Big Bone
