    Greenbo Lake ?

What does anyone know about this lake? Never been over that way and thought the wife and I might go and try to get some fishing in. I understand that it is an idle only lake and only about 250 acres.

    Couple of questions

Is it worth the 3-4 hour drive?
What type sizes can we expect to catch?
I saw they rented boats at the marina, can I take mine?

you can take yours, it is idle only. very small lake. years ago it held the state record for many years. it still has some large fish in it as trout is the main forage for the biggies...would i drive that far? well..i live 30 minutes away and ive been on it once. very rarely do you see quality fish come from it, when you do..its at night usually. the lake is super clear, you can see the bottom at 10+ feet. if you go..good luck

I've never been on it but with you living 30 minutes away and only been on it once...probably means I will NEVER be on it!!!!

I live up the road from it and have fished a few times. It is small clear and deep. For all those reasons it's a slow fishing lake. It is a good night lake however. I would say that if you enjoy a slow fish in 30 plus feet of water then you could potentialy do well there. If your a bank beater like most of us then it may or may not be worth the trip. I have had a couple good days doing that but far more blanked days. One note would be that if you got there early and it just wasnt working out you could load up and fish Grayson the later part of the day.

save yourself the trip. i live about ten minutes from the lake. i will fish it during the night in summer, and a few days when the fish are bedding. its not worth a 3-4 hr drive. the lake is idle speed and aroung 350 acres.

It was a good lake before they killed all the grass in the late 80's. Never has recovered. My best largemouth came out of there in 1985. My dad and I fished that lake every night in the late spring and summer. Damn grass carp.

There are still alot of huge bass in the lake they are just very hard to catch . We usually fish it in early spring and try to catch some bedding bass which is alot of fun because you usually see some pigs ...As for driving very far to fish it unless your a very above average angler I would spend my dollar going somewhere else . I was at grayson today which is about 35 -40 minutes from Greenbo and caught about 20 bass 4 solid keepers and one close to 5 lbs. its coming on right now its a pretty good spring time lake.
