What kind of reels do you use for 1oz jigs or Carolina Rigs? I have all low profile reels and think they may not be best to use for heavy baits.

i use a new citica ...i throw some swimbaits with them too ... they are great i would not worry about throwing 1 oz ...
I prefer high speed reels for carolina rigs and heavy jigs. You normally fish deep with those things - a high speed reel allows you to wind up quickly and cast back out faster...and allows you take up line quick if you get bumped on the fall and it's way out there. Just my preference. I also like metal one-piece frames instead of ones with lots of plastic...I've had a couple of plastic ones fall apart after a year or two of slinging the rig.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Low profile and high speed. Citica or Curado works great.
I have been very impressed with the Bass Pro Extreme reels.....they come in 6 different gear ratios.....for $80
Dont forget the ols Abu Garcias for really heavy baits!!! Thats all I use for anything bigger than 3/4. Havent seen another reel that can sling a heavy short as far either![]()
