I have a 1994 115 HP Johnson with a bubble back exhaust and I am curious if there is an easy way to change the thermostats? Looks as if the motor is going to have to be lifted or the lower cowl undone and lowered.

It is a PITA you have to remove the lower belly pan you can then get to the T'stat. Becareful with the hose from the heads to the Tstat housing. $$$$ if you mess them up.

After removing the small belly pan, remove the 4 bolts that hold the lower pan on with rubber grommets. You can then wedge large screwdrivers or small pry bars at the aft pan brackets to lower the pan for more access to the t'stat housing bolts. An offset 7/16" 12 point wrench and a 1/4" drive 7/16" flex-socket help immensely.
