I tried to buy something but they wouldn't sell it to me

That is it, I am done with BPS in clarksville, IN. I could not even get one of those guys behind the reel counter to approach me. They were chatting among themselves and I needed to buy two reels. That is the problem with most businesses in this country, they are forced to hire idiots who don't care about what they are doing and they kill the business in the long run.

That's bad customer service but I doubt it will be the last time you go there.

Unfortunately lots of businesses these days hire people who don't have a clue about customer service or even worse the product they are trying to sell. I had the same experience at the BPS in nashville

Mike, come by the shop and i will kick you out before you even get in the door man, that really sucks good buddy. If we treated people like that we would not be in business very long for sure. Sometimes letters go a long way to the top management you know

Well that's the kind of people that get hired for $7.00-$8.00 an hour by BPS. It's sad to say, but it's true, they just don't want to work, well most of the times anyway......

Try the Nashville store, the guys there are very helpfull and are standup guys....

Probably right, but still, I am mad for now. I will most likely buy a couple of reels at Academy in Jackson this week before we have to go to KY.

That's because they're usually dead beat retired science teachers just killing time by working at BPS to get discounts.

That is exactly why I affilate my myself with local tackle shops...good folks in small business that care about customer relations...they know their livelihood depends on good service. Businesses like Bass Pro plans their livelihood on getting large numbers of people into their stores by mass advertising and large stores. Give me the small businessman anytime over the corporate giants...may cost a little more but at the small business I am a person and not a number.

The mega stores could get quality people if they paid a fair wage and provided benefits so that a person could make a living above poverty level by working there full time.

Mike sounds like the same young guys that where "working" last week when I was in killing time at work, some older man ended up helping me after he was done with someone else. Yeah I have time to kill since I don't go to the pizza shop anymore

Was at Cabelas in Wheeling, and a gentleman and his wife were asking about mapping chips and the employee had know clue. I was standing by and chimed in and gave them the info they needed. Boy did I get some some dirty looks from the kid. I was'nt being rude, at least I did'nt think I was, but his anwers were, well I think so. Not quiet sure ect.........

Re: I tried to buy something but they wouldn't sell it to me (cjbrown)

I tried to return a rod this weekend, and one of the young guys there told me I didnt have a reciept, I told him its a BPS rod, told me then that its a 2007 model with no warranty, told him I bought it last spring at their annual sale, still wouldnt do anything for me, so I then told him fine, it will be the last one I buy there, and he got smart with me, so now I am going to gather all the rods and reels I have bought there, that have deficiencies, Johnny Morris reels, with the finish coming off already, and 3 of them are less than 3 months old, and a couple of rods that are junk, less than 6 months old, get my money back, and replace them with new ones from sponsors on this site. This guy acted like I was trying to take money out of his wallet, and a real smart#$@. Will not go back, will start buying everything from this point on from BBC sponsors.
