2008 Tournament Report from Fish and Wildlife

Got the report in the mail today that they send out to tournament directors and thought I would share some of the interesting findings I came across in the report:

I'll list the top three lakes per category:
    Percent of Successful angerls
    1. Willisburg 87.8
    2.Kentucky lake 71.4
    3. Barren River Lake 70.5

    Average weight per bass:
    1. Laurel 3.14lbs
    2. Barkley 2.67 lbs
    3. Kentucky Lake 2.58 lbs

Hours to catch a bass larger then 4 lbs (using the formula of a 50 angler tourny going 8 hours equals 400 hours of fishing)

    1. Lake Barkley 61 hours
    2.Kentucky Lake 86 hours
    3. Lake Cumberland 91 hours

Hours to catch a bass larger than 6 lbs (using above formula)
    1. Green River lake 344 hours
    2. Lake Barkley 573 hours
    3. Taylorsville 888 hours

    Average 1st place weight
    1. Kentucky 16.78 lbs
    2. Barkley 16.19 lbs
    3. Kincaid 14.46

I got that report as well, but don't be misled, check out the number of events held at Willisburg....Its tought to beat good old Kentucky Lake.

The positive that I took from the report was the pages where it showed the data since 2000 and each year up to 2008. Most of the lakes showed an improvement in al categories. I still that you gotta put an asterick next to Barkley and Kentucky. Depending on where the tournament launched from, many times those fish came from the other lake and brought through the canal. Nevertheless, it pretty interesting reading...
