Replacing a trolling motor mounted transducer is generally very easy to do, but could be a relatively expensive thing to try if it's not the real issue.
I'm no expert but it kinda sounds like a power issue. Might try running some temporary power lines up to that unit and see if it cleans it up any. Your LCDs need to be run direct to the battery if possible, not through any switches, etc, and try to keep the lines away from the ignition lines to the motor, and the power lines to the trolling motor.
He gave me a spart power cord for it so I guess I can try that first?
He said they worked this fall but I'm not so sure he was using that unit. You can see where there was another transducer on the motor and there was 3 snips from zip ties in the carpet the day I bought it.
I had them on my ranger before switching to humminbirds...switch the one on front to the dash and see if it works. Next I would try to do direct power from a battery to see if it is a wiring issue. The only thing left to try might then be another transducer. Garmin's were ok for me but my new humminbirds are great
matt,
there's something wrong with those model garmins and the wiring in those boats. like i told ya, my Tourny partner had the exact same setup, replaced the transducer, didn't help. replaced the graph with the same garmin...no good. finally he went and got a lowrance 135, it fit in the custom slot up front with no problems and he hasn't had any problems since. spend 150 bucks and get rid of the garmin. i wasn't chittin ya before..![]()

I've got a 240 on the front. Had pretty much the same issues as you do. I bought a new transducer and power cord - no problems since. If you wanted to bring it over and try it on my boat sometime, you're more than welcome to...but it will be March before I get the boat out of the garage if want to test it with water...
Here's where I've been getting my Garmin accessories:

They have good prices and their service is great if you have any questions.
Matt, I've got a Eagle FishMark 480 with a new transducer just sittin in the garage, if you want I could make you a sweet deal.Give me a call.
Garmins are pretty bad about "crosstalk" make sure when you get up from the dash you turn that unit off otherwise your unit is trying to interpert both signals.....I had to ditch my garmins they continually quit working however I think their gps accuracy is hands down better tha Lowrances![]()
