    Better Fill Up

This should be a good reason to raise gas at the pump.

NEW YORK – Oil prices spiked more than $25 a barrel Monday — the biggest one-day price jump ever — as anxiety over the government's $700 billion bailout plan, a weak dollar and an expiring crude contract ignited a dramatic rally.

Thanks for the heads up. Hope you have topped off for Guntersville.

    Good luck down there.

    Re: Better Fill Up (nightbasser)

I have a lot of nasty words I can use right now but choose to refrain. All I can say is I blame gas prices for a lot of what is wrong with the economy. We are being gouged by both the gov't, price speculations, and gas stations themselves.

Consumption is not up in equivalence to margins and profits of the major oil players. Many families and individuals are using all their disposable income to put gas in their car just to make it to work. Restaurants, retail etc... are struggling not because people don't want to buy, but they can't afford to b/c all the money is being used for gas and groceries.

I say we all start a revolution and take back this country!!!

Its all speculation when it comes to the price per barrel. The price at the pump has not changed ($350-4.00 a gal.) for a long time now... no matter what the price of crude is the price at the pump will remain at this level until somone comes up with a more convenient way for transportation.

I will be reverting back to my mountaineer roots if this crap keeps up. I know I can survive off the land if need be... how about you?

Being that the price of crude is still less than a couple of months ago and now that the hurricanes have passed with no major damage to the rigs and refineries gas prices should actually be dropping significantly.

But as you all can tell they are not. I suggest you all write your Senators and Congressmen and let them know how you feel. And if they like their jobs they should be doing something about it.

    Re: Better Fill Up (TR21Bassin)

Not only are prices not dropping around Nashville, but you can hardly find a station that has gas. I had to drive past 10 stations this morning before I found one with gas, and all they had was regular. I haven't taken my boat out in the past couple of weeks because both tanks are empty and you can't find mid-grade anywhere.

Most stations here in Guntersville are out of gas, or $30 limit. $3.89 to $3.99

I am so ready to get out on the lake, is it morning yet.
