Lake Monroe, Bloomington In....does no one fish there?

Going down to Monroe next weekend. Was wondering if anyone can give me some information on what the fish have been doing there.

We usually fish the fast side. Any help would be great. Just have about 6 hours of fishing time total, and anything that can help get us on some fish would be great.

Not wanting specific spots or anything...just types of water...

I was there about a month ago and had 4 that weighed 11#. I caught one on a Fat Free Shad fishing parallel to the bank in about 13 ft. It weighed 4#. The other three came on a double bladed buzzbait and all I did was chase the shade around the lake. That is about all I can tell you. Good luck.

Fished a tournament there in the spring about 4 years ago and was paired up with the guy who won it. There were some rather large weedbeds at the time (don't remember where they are) not quite to the surface of the water. He used a shad colored zara spook all day and just killed em. I think that the weeds are propably matted this time of year (if they are still there) and I would frog them or punch through the mats with a heavy bullet weight and some type of creature bait.

Have always wanted to get back to Monroe. I was impressed with the weedbeds I saw and I love playing in the grass.

Thanks guys...guess I'll be hitting the same areas I always hit in the fall.

Was hoping to find out if the fish have started moving back into the creeks more, guess we will find out.

Joe I was at Patoka last weekend and most of the fish we caught were on the points and main lake. Monroe might be the same. That might change with the temps dropping though.

I'm going to go out here and see what they are doing. Just talked to my buddy down there and he's sick, not sure if we will make it this weekend or not. With all the rain, shorter days, and falling temps I'm wondering if they won't be moving back to secondary points.

I was still catching them a week ago here out on ledges, though the mississenwa isn't a good lake to judge others on. So much 2" shad out there you could walk across the lake on the schools. It is amazing how much bait there is, and yet I catch more fish away from the obvious schools.
