ok, so i recently lost #2 on an 05' 225ho evinrude.felt the need to send me new short block from brp. they shipped me a 250(at least thats whatis on the crate) will this actually increase my hp or is that all controlled from the ecu? they think the reason i lost cylinder #2 was injector related and after looking at the crank their was some bearing wear marks thus the new block instead of honing/boring the old one. Does this sound right?
You got it under warranty? Nice for a 6 yr old motor. I don't know about the etecs if that's what yours is, but on the previous DFI motors like my 04 the 225 HO had a 250 program installed in the EMM; to my knowledge the actual mechanical parts etc were identical between 200, 225, and 250, with the exception of the Lightning gearcase and computer program on the HO motors. Somebody please correct me if any of this is incorrect.
yes, when i bought it in spring of 05' brp offered 5+2 additional yrs so it was a good deal:) and it is an e-tech. only have 125 hrs or so on the motor. i believe you are correct also about the emm only difference! and mine still has the lightning gear case on it from day one. been a great motor up until this, but i guess if it is manmade it will break sooner or later:) thanks for ya'll's comments.
