Anyone know anything about Blackberry phones?

Went to KY Lake and somehow my blackberry got thrown under some stuff on the table in our cabin and apparently had some buttons being pressed all night long. This drained the battery and locked the thing up, now it does nothing. None of the buttons work no matter how many times I reboot it. I can call it and it rings but you can't answer it. I am afraid to reset the thing for fear of losing lots of info, my sim card is full and I have been saving stuff to the phone itself
    Any ideas?

Take the battery out and put it back in if you haven't done that already. I've done this several times w/o loss of info. I think it is called a hard reset.

The battery removal as Bill suggested works for mine when it goes SOS. Did it work?

Nope, done it six times and every time the screen comes back on its the same thing, the wheel does not move the cursor and none of the buttons work.

good thing is if your info will be on the sim card. let the battery die then charge and try it again if that don;t work its probably toast. I have had my cursor not work before and then magically it starts working? Mine has been beat to death and its still working.

    Mike,
I'm not sure what model BlackBerry you have but, I have a 8703. It does not have a sim card, I have BlackBerry Desktop on my PC and everything is backed up there. Sounds like one of you keys is stuck, pushed in. Remove the battery and rub over all the keys making sure they all move freely. Then replace the battery.

+1 on this one! I call all these Palm Devices "Crack Berries" because you can get so darn addictted to all the info they hold. My wife bought me the iphone for our anniv because I just would not pull the trigger on one. So far it's been flawless! No more little buttons to stick. Like slow EVERYTHING in the phone is backed up on my PC, and then that is backed up on a remote HD, once you lose all yer chit once you learn.

By what you describe it sounds like a stuck button somewhere is locking up the processor.

Of course now they are coming out with a new iphone that's a couple hundred cheaper.

You could always get the owner's manual out and read it. Maybe if you knew how to use it you could justify carrying 17 cell phones to the lake.

I don't know why he'd have so many. Not like he'd drop one in the lake.

Here is what happened. I get up to fish on Friday morning and the thing has been tossed under a bunch of crap on the table in our cabin and so some of the keys were being pressed all night long. This drained the battery and locked it up(Thanks to whoever was so careful with my crap). So I threw it in the truck since it is usually good for three days on one charge and I don't have a charger. so I get home and there is no section in the owner's manual under "dumbass buddies throw your phone under a pile of crap". Just a bunch of typical troubleshooting crap. so the thing is now in blackberry heaven and I willl stick to cheap phones from now on.

And...........Smartazz, i carry exactly the same number of phones to the lake as you do. Two.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! One of mine is an Iphone. Much more than a cell phone. And for the record...it is two months old and broken too. They are junk and Apple is uninterested in helping me.

I am back to the phone I had that has no added features and seems to be bulletproof. I have no business with anything technical anyway.
