    225 not starting

Shifter is in neutral and kill switch is on, turn the key and nothing. The battery is charged. Took it out Friday and started every time but had problems with it wanting to go in gear. We put it in forward and had to give it some gas from the hot foot before it went into gear. If you put it in reverse you would have to take and push it up into forward to get it out of reverse. So is there a swicth inside the shifter that tells the motor that its in neutral? could this be bad if so?

Unless you have gearcase or engine linkage problems, it sounds like your control box may need fixing. Yep, there is also a neutral switch inside the box.

If your gauges come on when you turn the key on, but the starter motor won't operate in the start position, then the neutral switch could be one of a number of culprits.

Disconnect your shift cable at the motor. Center the motor's linkage. Spin the prop with your foot and shift the linkage at the motor by hand. It should shift easily and freely. Adjust your cable accordingly.
