I went down there at the same time 2 years ago and it was pre-spawn for sure. The weather was cool and the fishing was slow. I did manage to catch one pig a day including this one that was 7-2. The only thing we could get bit on was a trap. Where are you gonna stay? We stayed and Goose Pond and would definitley go back.

I have never been to Guntersville but I do know a small group of guys that have been for the last two years. They went around the 1st or 2nd week both years. I asked them the same question about the weather as you were wanting to know.

Their response was it is very similar to what is going on here. If we are having a major cold front so is G-vill just not as cold but the warm fronts are much warmer. The water temp will be about 3 weeks ahead of the temps that we have in south central KY. That was the reply they gave me

We went Memorial Day weekend. It was HOT while we were there too! Top water bite was so so real early in the morning! From what I've read and heard, April is the time to be down there. That top water bite is supposed to be unbelievable. I love seeing that water boil!

    Re: guntersville info (noodledude)

I was there 3rd week of March last year and it was considerably warmer than here. We found some prespawn in the mouths of pockets off the main lake and some that had made the move to shallow water to spawn. We could only get bit fishing real slow with senko type baits in watermellon candy colors. I will be back again 3/20 - 3/31 The bite on the big girls was a little slow but we did manage a few. Most fish were in the 3 lb range.

Talked to a guy Sunday who fished an ABA down there Saturday. Top 3 guys had 20+ sacks all from Rattle traps in the back of creeks 4ft of water w/ water temps @42degrees. Wish they would move up here like that!!

We have a trip the 29th of March. We are hoping to catch pre-spawn. It looks good so far. Typically this time of year it is pre-spawn or spawn. You will be able to find both. The upper end of the lake should warm the first but that is a no brainer. The weather will be the iffy part. It is hit and miss with cold fronts down there right now. Good luck.

Google " troy jens" for the Angling Alabama site, hopefully he will have a more current report up. There 3/12/06 and water temp was about 51
