Cool thing happened today at Dale Hollow.

I've been trying to figure out how to catch fish on a jigging spoon and today I was in 35' or so water out in the middle of a secondary channel and marking lots of fish and bait. I dropped my spoon and watched it come in sight on my screen and as I watched it I seen a fish come from about 10' below it and head right at my spoon. Next time I went to stoke it up there was a fish on. I pulled it off at the boat. Not big but around 2.5-3lbs but that was fun! I even seen it swim back down to the bottom on my screen. I can see how this is a good way to catch those off-shore suspended fish. Did catch 11 fish on a jig today and lost 5 or so. Surface temp was 58 and fish were in secondary cuts.

LTBama on BFHP has been putting up alot of sonar pics and tips on fishing the spoon. It's something I have never really tried. I'll have to add it to the list on things I need to learn. (long list)

Yep, that has to be the coolest thing to watch. Even better than a topwater bite!

I did that with a drop shot earlier in the year. It's really cool Now if I could actually catch another one on a drop shot I would think I knew what I was doing.

It's just a Lorance X88. Nothing special. I read this article some time back and it helped. http://heartlandtackleservice.com/spooning.stm

did that in a cut on DH last year. I could see them under the boat slashing back and forth on my screen. Dropped a silver buddy down to the bottom one lift and wham a 20.5" brut, this was the only one I caught like that in the group though. After I landed that fish they where gone.

Daniel, if you read in your article (good one by the way), he says NOT to use a swivel...

"The spoon I use most of the time is a 1/2oz Cabela's Real Image spoon in glow because I have confidence in it. I've practiced in a pool with all kinds, weights, and shapes. With most spoons a 1/2oz will give the best flutter - anything lighter is too small to displace enough water, anything heavier sinks too fast. I use a split ring but do not use a swivel! Swivels are meant to prevent line twist and keep a lure running true. That’s not what you want a spoon to do. Line twist will improve the action of a spoon."

These are the 2 biggest. Not huge but pulled pretty good.

Awesome smallies bro! How long has it taken it you to be this successful of an angler? I've noticed in your pics you catch ALOT of quality fish.

I'm not. It's just that there are a lot of fish that size in Dale Hollow. There's a slot limit that makes people release fish between 16 and 21" and as a result it seem most fish are 3-4lbs. Lots of guys on here catch fish as good or better but they don't fool with taking picturesl like me.

I would like to point out that Daniel fully extends his arm during the picture taking process and is always catching 20 7/8" fish. No doubt....Daniel is the man.
