They weren't in a good mood this week. Danged weather liars said 8mph winds Saturday and Sunday last I checked before I left. Not only way faster than that, it was blowing right into the east side bays on KY. North Barkley was a little crowded.
Heard about the accident and glad to hear it's going reasonably well for him.
I heard another story that a guy was fishing by himself just south of the canal on the LBL side and fell out of the boat. Hard wind and waves pushed the boat onto the bank before he could get back to it. Two other fishermen pulled it off with anchor ropes. Most of that is gravel, so it was probably a bad day for gelcoat.![]()
I launched off a wave going a blazing 22mph and broke a stow pin on my TM.Looked way calmer than it was.
I hate to think what it was like before I was there.
Fishing actually wasn't bad. The bays are full of shad, but the water is still 70-73. Lots of short fish in there with them. I could see a lot of decent fish on a couple of my better spots, but I could only get one cast or so before I had to turn around and fight the wind and waves the other way. I'd go out and fish them for 20 minutes or so, then go hide in the bay to recover and re-tie.
Believe it or not, but there are still Jet Skis out. Despite what you might hear, I did not need four tries to load my boat Sunday night. I nailed that sucker on the third try.![]()
