    Sportsman's Warehouse

Opened today at Winchester Road and Sir Barton in Lexington. Awesome store. They have about every plastic you can imagine and lots of cranks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc. I saw rattle traps I did not know they made. Joe, they have spooks in every shape, size and color. Only thing I saw that they were lacking in was fishing line and jigs, however, most of us make our own jigs or get them from Jeff. If you are a hunter you will love this store. Any outdoor clothing you can imagine is there. LOTS of knives and guns. I went in to look with Taylor and ended up buying a pair of pink crocs for her and got me a new knife. Not good that this store is so close to me.

Buck is a pro @ light tackel bass fishing

    Buck,
I just walked to the pond by my house and had 5 bass 2 about 2lbs. on the zoom trick worm just like at Ky Lake. There was a young boy fishing with his dad for cat fish, he seen me catch one of the nicer bass and asked me how I was catching them. Said they had been there for hours and no bites. I showed him how I was fishing and he held up a pumpkin seed lizard, said will this catch a bass. I asked if he had a worm hook, he did. I took the worm hook, rigged it up for him with the lizard, and he caught his 1st 2lb bass. You should have seen the smile on his face. His dad said they were getting ready to leave and go home until that time, now he wanted to stay and fish.

    Re: Sportsman's Warehouse (Slow Rollin)

Yeah..they got the spinning junk. Hey Roddy......Not everbody can make that backwards cast every fourth try. It takes practice. I do it so often I think people on the lake think I am doing it on purpose. If the guy on the boat with me would quit laughing everytime it happens I think I could pull it off. As it stands I managed to catch some four pounders on that outfit at the rally but I can confess that fighting those fish was a sight and if it were not for a quick net job by Mike there is no telling how it would have ended. At one point I was fighting a fish when the reel cam unseated while Daleo is trying to tell me to fix my drag. Daleo is skipping worms, hitting the trunks of the cypress and fishing the grass....I am just trying to get the worm to go forward. Anyway....that combo is done for the year. Burn and churn or die tryin for me for the rest of the summer.

Greg...I can't believe you gave that kid a straight answer.

200# mono on a Penn reel the size of Daniel's head...that is what I am talking about.

    Re: Sportsman's Warehouse (Rippinlip)

Just checked it out. They have a pretty good assortment of plastics. Not as much on the specialized parts of tackle building ex. jig heads and shakey heads but they are new and can tell that they have room for more inventory. Staff were awesome and helpful. Not a huge assortment of rods. Had A LOT of shimano Crucials and Compres. Some All-stars and very few loomis. Not a lot of electronics either. But it is new. Still LOTS of good buys and inventory. Now I don't have to make my Chompers orders. They have them. Did I say a good assortment of plastics? Nothing like Backwaters of Somerset but still nice, close and convenient. Nice assortment of Cranks (lucky craft- wide variety and good inventory of types and colors) and spinnerbaits. Had some great tackle as far as the bait area. Didn't notice any reels nor did I look though. Awesome addition. Some great prices as well! Bait selection is good except for tackle building, jigs and some line. They have the basic lines I like but no seaguar. But they do have my p-line flouroclear.

Plastics, cranks, rattles spinners and buzz baits. Spooks are all exceptional enventories.

    Rods, line, reels, electronics

    Re: Sportsman's Warehouse (arjone01)

I thought they had a great selection of line. I dont know of many brands that they dont have. Heck, they even have p-line flouro in BULK I havent seen that ANYWHERE. As far as rods go, they have LOOMIS so they have a good inventory there I believe lol. I think the store is awesome, plastics are $1 cheaper per bag than I can buy anywhere else. Even the lucky crafts are a buck cheaper each. They sure as heck will put a hurtin on Dicks fishing and hunting dept.

Don't you mean Joe's head? I think we already established the fact that his head is larger.

    Re: Sportsman's Warehouse (flippindrew)

They are definately good on price. I picked up some pointers because they are cheaper. Everything is cheaper. I like the line selection but they don't carry any seaguar.

They definately have good brand selection. What I meant by poor rod selection is that they had about 7-8 loomis. One drop shot loomis and two crank loomis and 5-6 bronze back. They only had on rack of rods up. Mostly shimano. About 8 all stars and a dozen + falcons. I don't use loomis but if I did they did have much of a selection. Only about one of every type of rod. Not a huge assortment like I might expect but still good. I'd find what I want there in crucials but you'd probably have to order a loomis due to the small variety they had up. It seemed that other than the shimanos they only had one length in each action to cover the whole series.

Whatever the case they're definately my bait go to store now. Awsome prices and selection.
