    Boat tag renewal

I just thought this was kind of comical so I thought I would share it. I got my renewal notice in the mail about 10 days ago. It said that I owed $153. Now understand I own a 95 boat with a 95 motor so I just about had a heart attack. I look a little closer at it and it has my boat valued at $1700 and my motor at $9700 . The year was even right on both. I called the PVA office ready for war and the sweet little lady on the other end says "AHHHHH NOT ANOTHER ONE". She goes on to explain that for some reason it appears that frankfort messed up A LOT of values and that she had been getting calls left and right about it. She rechecks the values of my boat and motor and corrects it, now I owe $53. I've seen some other boards where people are complaining about it too so if you all think that your renewal is to high it may be worth a call to your local PVA office.

    Re: Boat tag renewal (Dover)

I fish mostly in Kentucky, I work in Kentucky, I rarely fish in Indiana. Last year some stuff came up about launch fees and stuff the DNR was receiving money for aside from tax dollars to enhance our lakes in Indiana. This was other than revenue from fishing licenses. So I was checking out the breakdown of fees for my boat registration renewal and there is a $25 "Lakes Enhancement Fee". WTH? I am not opposed to a fee that goes into the upkeep and conservation of our lakes, but being forced to pay $25 in my registration is a joke.

David, I know this is slightly off your subject and I did nopt mean to highjack your post, but it just got me thinking.

You're fine Mike. I agree with you, WTH is a "Lake Enhancement Fee"? Are they going to put freakin fountains and stuff in the lake to make them Prettier? FYI we don't pay that down here in the great state of Kentucky.

Indiana needs to have a special license plate for fishermen with the proceeds going to the DNR. I've seen KY plates with deer and bass on them.

There is an environmental plate. I've got one on my truck. The extra fee goes to the Indiana Heritage Trust. That organization works to preserve natural areas, waterways, lakes, etc.

    Re: Boat tag renewal (buzzking2001)

Every year the value of my boat goes down but my $500 Seadoo is now valued at $2700? I wish ....I would sell that sucker in a heart beat.

    Re: Boat tag renewal (jasonglh)

Boat $10,408 , Motor $0, now that don't make sense.

Now for my pontoon that was a wreck, that I bought for $400 in 2005 to somehow restore to seaworthy condition. This thing's been in pieces without registration for 2 years, Boat $678, Motor $649.
I'm gonna have to call PVA, Thanks for the advice Dave.

    Re: Boat tag renewal (DaveR)

I am glad I checked over here, I also have an unreasonable tax bill. I called the PVA office and told me they will adjust it.
    Thanks, THE BANDIT
