1989 johnson gt 150 vro question

I have a 1989 Johnson GT 150, and I have noticed a couple of times my warning horn going off. I usually run about 10 minutes or less to a dam and fish with no issue. When I come back drop my friend off to get the truck I idle out to the middle of the river, and that is when it happens. It is a pulsing horn which the manual says is the no oil horn. It has never happened while running, or on the initial trip, only when I return and idle a couple minutes. I have always shut it off right away, and by the time the trailer is ready I start up and no problem. Sorry for the long post...any ideas?

Are you still using the VRO or pre-mixing?

Sounds like the VRO low oil horn to me.

Im no expert, I am sure one will be along soon, but it sounds like the low/no oil alarm to me.

Yes, I think so too, I was just wondering if there was some sort of diagnostic process to see what is causing this. Like I said, I have no problem while running, only when I return and idle for a minute. Then when I shut it off and re-start the alarm is off. Thanks for the reply bhougham.

Add oil and pump primer bulb on oil tank.

Ok will do. I thought that alarm was for no oil, not low oil. Thanks for the replies.

on my 91 motor with the vro2, the pulsing alarm is for LOW oil. it chirps at me at just under 1/4 tank.
