30HP loses power over 4,000 RPMs - fuel issue?

30HP on my pontoon. I can idle all day around the lake. If I go up to 3,000 RPMs, it will run just fine. When I get over 4,000 RPMs, it will have a momentary loss of power like it is not getting fuel - will drop down to almost idle speed, then pick back up. This does not happen all the time - just occassionly.

The carbs were rebuilt in the spring. I did a sea-foam application not too long ago. Swapped out plugs at the same time. I believe this to be a fuel issue. Would the next step be to swap out the fuel line/fuel bulb?

Steve, not being a smart azz, the tank didn't get on top of fuel line I hope? What size tank, and is it portable?

Hey Mike - you understand my mechanical abilities.

This is a fixed location tank. I think it is a 20 gallon tank. I've left the lake for the weekend. I did not trace the fuel line to see if it is binding in any way. Just a very odd condition where I can cruise all day long at lower RPMs but once I get towards full throttle, I get this bogging condition.

Thanks Fred. Just looked up the scemantic on the evinrude side - doesn't look like that bad of a repair job. Will directions come with the rebuild kit?

Yep. Get the new fuel line and primer bulb. Comes as a kit. Get it without the connectors you don't need it. Just ask for a couple extra tie wraps..
