Watermelon/red, watermelon/purple brush hogs. C-rig main lake humps and river channel ledges near the mouths of bays.

    Re: KY lake (Ky 521)

I caught about ten fish, only two keepers. I tried everything, but caught the fish on c-rig tubes & brush hogs off the ledges also broke off two good ones. In the afternoon the white bass started busting shad all around me for about an hour, seemed like thousands of them. I caught a bunch of them on topwater with a couple of largemouth mixed in. Thanks for your information guys.

Fishy, when I was there the gizzard shad were eating fry. They were everywhere! At first we thought they were small schools of spots but when we got closer we could tell they were about 7-10 inch gizzard shad.

They are bitting pretty good at nite right now. Tunderwood and his partner had 15lbs for second sat nite. 21lbs won. I took company from texas out and fished from 9 to 1 and we 8 keepers on Hoppy's spinnerbaits. 6 of the 8 were smallmouth, the biggest fish was a 3 1/2 to 4 lb largemouth. Quite a few fish on the flats eating fry also, even with the hot water.

Troy, what weight spinner-bait you building? 3/4 oz? I've been using a 5/8 oz short arm.

I build them all from 3/8 to 2.5 oz. I have been catching them on a 1/2 with a #5 Colorado Blade.

    Must be tough, Florida.

Guys, are you retrieving that thing steady or are you doing something silly with it?

    Re: KY lake (mikedaleo)

I like to fish a heavy spinner-bait at night. If I come up on shallow water I burn it, if the water gets a little deeper I can slow roll it. I'm catching them on a steady retrieve. I always use a black curly tail for a trailer at night. Tunderwood is the night fishing god however. Wish I could have fished the Firecracker tourney with him Sat. night, but I didn't get the message off the machine till the tourney had started.

Mike....not so fun in Florida now. We had to leave a day early. They evacuated all visitors today by four o'clock and tomorrow all residents need to leave by noon I think. Traffic is terrible. We are staying in Birmingham AL with a friend. It took us seven hours to get hear. I hope tomorrow is better traveling than today.
