    1 31/32" hitch ball for 2" coupler

Hi, I'm a new boat owner. The hitch ball currently fitted to my tow vehicle is a European 50mm.

The trailer coupler is a 2" model. The effective difference is 1/32". Is this within acceptable tolerances or am I looking for trouble towing the boat with this ball?

    Thanks

That is a tiny bit. I'm willing to bet the tolerances on the balls bought at walmart and the likes are not that close to actual size.
I'd take a good look at it hitched up with jackstand down to support the weight and see if I thought there was anyway in the world that would come off.

Back years ago everybody had 1 7/8 balls. We pulled trailers with 2" couplers on them all the time. Now everything is 2"

I had a trailer with a 2" coupler jump off a 1 7/8 " ball backing out of the driveway when I forgot to change the drawbar to match the other trailer I pulled.

1.970 inches is the minimum recommended diameter for a 2 inch ball.

    50mm is a little shy.
