    Question on UFP disc brakes

I have a 2001 Triton ez loader trailer. I was on the UFP website and they have a diagram and instructions for working on the brakes and bearings. I needed to replace a grease seal that I successfully replaced but on the instruction sheet it said to remove a wire retainer in which I did not have on mine. I removed the 5/16 bolt and then the housing that covers the disc brakes and from there the brake pads just slid out from under the clips. I repacked the bearings and replaced the bad seal and put 150 miles on trailer the next day. I did have a little trouble getting the old seal out,is there a easy way to remove it? Thanks

Get a rear seal puller tool.

Re: Question on UFP disc brakes (Erie660)

I just changed a caliper for a UFP type disc brake and I have a wire retaining clip on each side. They come off easily and may have fell off when a tire was changed? I think they are only there to eliminate chattering or to put slight pressure on the outboard side of the brake pads?
    I got nothin

Re: Question on UFP disc brakes (Jim Dunn)

You have the DB42 style brake. The wire retainer is shaped like a long Z. One end is shorter than the other. The short end hooks into the lower spring clip on the left side, and the longer end will pop into place on the top right clip. If you do not have them, I'd suggest replacing both the spring clips p/n 36075, and get the retainers 33155 from your local distributor.
