my 1998 hydra sport trailer lost a hub the other day . didnt notice it til i got in the driveway. did some damage to the spindle. (idler axle) i put a new hub and bearings on but it has about 1/8 inch up down freeplay. does this entire axle need replaced ?? or will the spindle assembly slide out ?? help ....
Your axle may have been built by Henschen Industries. If that is the case, you will need to replace the entire axle and spindles, as their axles were built with non-removeable spindles. To determine whether the spindle is replaceable, look at the point where the trailing arm assembly is affixed to the axle beam. If there is a square weld there, it is not replaceable. If there is a splined end with a removeable bolt, you can replace just the trailing arm and spindle.

I know this is way late but just in case, I have a EZ Loader Torsion axle trailer and had to replace the axle only since there was no one close by who had the compression equipment to pull the old one out and put the new one in. You can buy the part from EZ Loader or Eastern Marine. So if you are in the same boat as me then you have to get the whole thing.
