    Are they working?

For the first time, I have a dual axle trailer with brakes. I was pulling my boat the other day and got to thinking about those trailer brakes. I know this will sound stupid to seasoned vets here, but how do I know they are actually working? Is there some sort of test I can perform?

Unplug your lights pigtail and try and back up a hill or incline. They should lock up.

Get up to highway speed, brake quickly a few times and then pull off the road. The brake hubs should be warmer than the others.

The trailer is not the original; this is an 06.

Just unplug your trailer lights and try and back up a slight incline or on a gravel road. If the rear wheels lock up, then you have brakes, if they don't then you will need to work on the brake system.
