Trailer brakes locking up in reverse

I have a 2003 stratos 201 with an 03 stratos trailer, I have used this rig for 2years with no issues.
Last few times out the surge brakes have been grabbing here and there when reversing(not only uphill but on the flats) now they lock almost always when reversing. My question is do all of these trailers have a reverse solenoid, and if so where is it located and what color wires in the harness power it?
I have noticed a single blue wire that seems to be severed, but not quite sure where it was intended to go.
    Thanks in advance

The reverse solenoid on my trailer is mounted in line right behind the master cylinder. I don't know the color but it will be coming from your reverse lights on the truck.

On my shorelandr trailer, the blue wire goes to the backup solenoid. Like transam said, that gets connected to your backup light circuit.

The good news is that you've conformed that the surge brakes are working well.

Splice and solder the blue wire on the trailer side of the five wire pigtail to the wire that goes into the solenoid at the back of the surge brakes. If you don't have a five wire pigtail, get one and connect the fifth wire on the vehicle side of the plug to the vehicle's backup light circuit.

You probably have a UFP A-60 Inner Member Slide.

Here's the link to the PDF file on it.

The Blue wire is your power wire to your solenoid. Fix that and your back in business.

    Re: (Isle)

Yup, look under the tongue and it should be right behind the master cylinder. It will have a wire going to it and a break line coming out of it. I had to change mine when I bought my boat.

You can use a c-clamp or a lockout key to hold the pin in place so you can back it up until you get it fixed.

    Re: (ducttape)

It could have gone bad. If you don't want to replace it Put a "C" clamp on the tongue to keep it from sliding or put something in the pin slide oval area. Or turn the knob over the master to lock out (if you have one).
