    Brakes locking up

Twice in the past week my trailer brakes have locked up when I've tried to back up, fortunately both times I have been able to get out of my parked spot by pulling forward.

This has never happened in the 4 years I've owned the boat, and I had the fluid checked a few weeks ago. What are some of the first things I should check?

Make sure you are getting power to the blue wire on your trailer when you put your tow vehicle in reverse. If you are then your solenoid is bad or the wire to it is broken. If no power to the blue wire, check reverse light fuse on tow vehicle.

BTW, You can use a "C" clamp to stop the tongue from compressing. Or something placed in the gap where the pin slides.

I'm saying this cause I didn't know these things and I unhooked the break line and now I'd have to rework the whole break system to get the breaks back.

I have the same issue with my Stratos trailer. It only locks up when backing up an incline or in really soft terrain (sand). There is a pin attached to the tongue that I can insert into the hole between the trailer head and the rest of the frame, and that will allow me to back up (that's what the pin is for). Is it ever a pain though when that pin falls out and the brakes have locked up!

Is there any effect to having the pin in the hole permanently? I'm thinking of securing it somehow so it won't fall out and just driving around with it in there all the time.

Could be a faulty solenoid in the actuator.
    So many honey-dos . . . . . so little motivation
