    Cool Hubs to Bearing Buddies

I have a 2000 Ranger Trail tandem axle trailer. I am tired of the cool hubs. I have a time keeping these hubs in check. Seems like I am constantly having to change a seal or change fluid because of the milky white (water getting in). I ahve been stranded on side of the road a couple of times having to refill the hub after the cap has popped off. At least with a bearing buddy I can pack it with grease and put a coke can on it just to get to somewhere to change it properly. The bearings are L68110 (race) and L68149 (bearing). I thought I saw a post earlier that said model 2328 bearing buddy was needed. Any help opions greatly apreciated.
One more question. What is the best way to remove the wear sleave (Silver thing that fits on the shoulder of the spindle that the seal rides on) with the red high temp silicone on it?
    Thanks in advance.

If you take a good look at the L-ring, you will notice it has a lip on the inner side of the spindle. Take a pair of pliers and grasp the raw spindle lightly with them. Then use a hammer to rap on the pliers, forcing the L-ring off the spindle. Replace with UFP part 33522 and use an old bearing to drive the new L-ring on. Be sure to use a new o-ring, p/n 32736, or paint the spindle area where the L-ring will come to rest, with RTV or similar, to waterproof the underside of the L-ring. This will keep water from trying to enter from underneath the L-ring. If your spindle is straight and uses the same inner and outer bearing, the 2328 protector is the correct size. Simply pound the new grease protector in place and fill with grease. The hub cavity is 6.6 oz so each will use about 1/2 of a grease cartridge. You should consider carrying a grease gun with you for a couple of trips until you are confident that all of the air is out of the hub and it is full.
